Diamo spazio a questa band italiana, parecchio particolare! I Tot Licht propongono una musica parecchio scheletrica e distorta (Forever Oblio, Black Salvation) quasi fossero macabre sarabande circensi. Anche le vocals assumono spesso un tono sarcastico e grottesco (The Evil) secondo un uso che potrebbe ricordare certi passaggi più da “menestrello nero” di Sopor Aeternus. Notevole Ario, cantata in italiano. Di base, la band si diverte a creare delle atmosfere da incubo, (Claustrophobia, scheletrica e strisciante) anche se contrariamente a quello che si potrebbe pensare, tutto suona molto più sciolto e veloce, rispetto alla media della tradizione Death Rock (pensate che Other Planet dura 1.55 e anche le altre tracce non superano i due minuti) tanto che si potrebbero accostare a dei Corpus Delicti più veloci… c’è da dire che comunque l’effettistica Dark Ambient (Living In My Reason) o di frequenze disturbate (Dead Line) li rende abbastanza difficili da catalogare nettamente in una categoria o nell’altra.The Rain e Transilvania iniziano con un recitato “da cripta” di una voce femminile, su archi spettrali la prima, per poi evolvere in un’effettistica pulsante e strisciante, effetti ambient la seconda (davvero brevissima). Si direbbe che la band ponga in prima linea la voglia di sperimentare (senza cadere nell’effetto “frullatore”, perchè malgrado gli “stridori compositivi” qualche volta, l’effetto finale è comunque omogeneo).Chiude il cd Routin By The Heart, probabilmente la track più lenta e catacombale (malgrado duri 55 secondi!).
In Fear of The Light: Piccole schegge di atmosfere sulfuree, insomma. Interessante, proprio per la scelta voluta di fuggire a semplicistiche etichette. Band con notevole impronta personale e stilistica.
