The band Tank And Tears was formed in Prato (Italy) in 2013 by Matteo Cecchi (bass, vocals, synth) and Claudio Pinellini (guitar, synth). With the addition of Francesco Ciulli on drums a year later, their sound evolved in the direction of British post-punk from the 1980s. In 2015, coinciding with the release of their debut EP ‘Know Yourself,’ they began their collaboration with the label Swiss Dark Nights, to which they are still affiliated today. In 2017, they released their first album, ‘Aware.’ In 2019, after performing around a hundred concerts in Italy and Europe and with the addition of Lorenzo Cantini on synth and keyboards, they took a break. They returned to the music scene only in December 2022 with the release of the maxi-single ’Nightmare,’ which marked an evolution in the quartet’s sound, emphasizing the electronic elements of synthesizers and drum machines. In the same darkwave vein, their second full-length album, ‘Timewave,’ was released in March 2024, preceded by the singles ‘Darkside’ and the title-track ‘Timewave’.

I Tank And Tears si formano a Prato nel 2013 per volontà di Matteo Cecchi (basso, voce, synth) e Claudio Pinellini (chitarra, synth). Con l’arrivo di Francesco Ciulli alla batteria un anno più tardi, il loro suono si sviluppa nella direzione del post-punk britannico degli anni ‘80. Nel 2015, in concomitanza della pubblicazione dell’EP di debutto “Know Yourself”, prende il via il sodalizio con l’etichetta svizzera Swiss Dark Nights a cui sono legati ancora oggi, e nel 2017 danno alle stampe il loro primo album “Aware”. Nel 2019, dopo un centinaio di concerti tra Italia ed Europa, e dopo l’ingresso in formazione di Lorenzo Cantini ai synth e tastiere, si fermano. Torneranno sulle scene solo nel dicembre del 2022 con la pubblicazione del maxi-singolo “Nightmare”, che marca un’evoluzione nel sound del quartetto, portando in primo piano l’elettronica dei sintetizzatori e delle drum machines. Sullo stesso solco darkwave, nel marzo 2024 vede la luce il loro secondo full-length “Timewave”, anticipato dei singoli “Darkside” e “Timewave”.
