Altro Ep. Guardo le foto dell’artwork a cura di Daniel Millroy e penso “Oddio, ma questo è un artwork Black Metal!” e invece no. Tra le fila degli Exit Strategy (one man band) milita il vocalist “teatralmente dannato” William Westwater dei bravi Fear Incorporated, che presta la sua ugola spettrale e teatrale per due delle song di questo Ep, Exit Strategy e God Eat God (che si apre con il latrato di un cane!), più dall’ispirazione Sex Gang Children. Rispetto ai Fear Incorporated, qui il suono è meno tombale e vischioso, e più sferzante e crudo (bello però il riff simil- arabeggiante della title track!).Il fondatore della band, tale B.Waddon, si dedica ad una sorta di Death Rock ritualistico (Beneath A Crescent Moon, oltre che ad aprirsi con un rullato di batteria, prevede una sorta di canto sciamanico…e si chiude con un rumore di vento lontano) a tratti abbastanza personale (anche questa track, totalmente strumentale prevede un riff simil arabeggiante). Judas By Any Other Name chiude l’Ep, e si tratta di una track strumentale, tutta riff scheletrico e scarno e un interessante uso della batteria (a mo’ di percussione sciamanica continua). Bello il break centrale, ma tenete presente che la track dura ben 8 minuti. Capolavoro? No, però un ascolto che offre qualche spunto interessante. L’idea che comunque ci si fa, è che la band miri più ad una proposta personale, che non a seguire i solchi della tradizione.
