Finalmente una band con una grintosa death rocker girl alla voce!
Probabilmente date le atmosfere ruvide e scheletriche del genere siamo abituati a pensarlo esclusiva maschile ma questi Scarlet’s remains invece propongono atmosfere scarne e decadenti arricchite da una bella voce potente -scordatevi le voci mielose o liricheggianti- ma che non perde un grammo di femminilità .
Anzi.Forse è proprio la voce femminile a far fare quel salto di qualità che rende questa band speciale in un genere un pò omologato (sia chiaro, io non lo cambierei di una virgola!)
Le chitarre sono 80’s come da tradizione, il basso sempre costante.Ci trovate echi di Bauhaus e Corpus Delicti senza dimenticare i Christian death!
Le dodici track sono omogenee e rispettano tutti gli stilemi Death rock: dai momenti più frenetici come in “The magician” o “A desperate action”(vera e propria danza ossessiva) o a quelli tribaleggianti di “In the mystical east”.
“Reunion” è un gioiello orrorifico, mentre “Children write on missiles” con le atmosfere “frankensteiniane” è una perfetta Batcave hit.
“Bittercold in a dry season” è una citazione neo Christian death.La settima track ammalia con i suoi scricchiolii e il cantato in tedesco regala un’atmosfera vampirica alla Nosferatu.
Cd consigliatissimo ai seguaci delle atmosfere transilvane e ragnatelose…e ai curiosi che si sono sempre chiesti come sarebbe stata una song come “Bela Lugosi’s dead” cantata da una voce femminile…
